ECMWF Global Precipitation Maps
The ECMWF global precipitation forecast brings rain and snow accumulation into focus across the World, continents and regions. Compare the next three days, days four to six, or the full six-day outlook.

Typical timingFirst regional maps are normally available about 20 minutes after processing begins; a complete update is normally available in about 1 hour 15 minutes.
Publication times are estimates and may vary with ECMWF data availability, processing duration, or technical delays. The latest successfully validated maps remain available until a newer update is ready.
Understanding these maps
These are accumulated ECMWF precipitation maps. The displayed precipitation total uses tp (total precipitation water equivalent): values in metres are multiplied by 1,000 and shown in millimetres. Snow uses sf (snowfall water equivalent), converted to estimated fresh/new snow depth in centimetres by the frozen 10:1 water-equivalent-to-snow method. The 0–72h map covers the first three forecast days; 72–144h covers the following three; 0–144h covers the complete six-day accumulation. Each total applies to its interval and does not identify the exact time precipitation occurs within it.
World gives a fixed global perspective. The continent and canonical-region selectors move to progressively more focused views. Each complete raster carries its own ECMWF model and run information, source, and exact validity period.
A multi-day total does not tell you exactly when within that interval rain or snow occurs. Local conditions and forecasts can differ; use official warnings and local authoritative information for safety-critical decisions.
